Sierra Murdock

Sierra Murdock is a Digital Reporter and Weekend News Producer.

As a young girl Sierra recalls mimicking her local news anchors and envisioning herself “telling the story”. Throughout her upbringing, it was embedded in Sierra that success depended primarily upon hard work and perseverance.

Sierra graduated with honors from the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication. Additionally, Sierra holds a master’s degree in Communication Management from the highly ranked Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California.

Sierra brings her innate ability to relate to people of all walks of life and an uncanny sense of storytelling, innovation and intuition to her craft. Her attention to detail, creativity and just as important; her sense of humor are a few reasons she was chosen as anchor of the student led news program Local Matters, where she learned how to report, edit and produce the university’s daily broadcast her freshman year.

In her time away from the newsroom, Sierra enjoys catching up on all series within the Real Housewives franchise, spending time with her two nieces, and trying new restaurants.

Sierra is honored to tell the stories of the Kern County community and is excited to be a part of the beautiful Golden Empire.
