Before that he was the film and TV critic for the Fresno Bee for 18 years, a position that he held at the Bakersfield Californian for seven years before moving north.
After attending Austin Peay State University, Rick became a sports writer in Hopkinsville, Ky. and Alexandria, La. But, his passion has always been entertainment news.
Along with being a member of the Television Critics Association for 43 years, Rick is a member of the Critics Choice Association and the Hollywood Critics Association.
He and his wife of 49 years have one son who owns a comic book store in Burbank.
Among Rick’s brushes with fame is his having sat in five of the captain’s chairs on the sets of “Star Trek” TV series (an no the original series is not one of them).
