Patricia Rocha is the Digital Executive Producer for KGET Channel 17 in Bakersfield, California.
Born and raised in Bakersfield, Patricia is proud to work at the station she and her family have watched for generations. Patricia graduated from West High School in 2010 as the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper The Saga. She continued that leadership streak when she became Editor-in-Chief of Bakersfield College’s school newspaper The Renegade Rip. She then spent a summer as a news assistant for The Bakersfield Californian before transferring to San Francisco State. She finished her Bachelor’s degree back at home at California State University, Bakersfield as the News Editor for The Runner student newspaper.
After graduation, Patricia was hired as a part-time producer at KGET to produce the 30-minute weekend and 6 p.m. newscasts. Within a month of her hiring, she was promoted to a full-time position producing 17 News at Sunrise, the two-hour weekday morning show. In August of 2019 Patricia was offered the Digital Executive Producer position and now manages KGET’s seven-person digital team. In her time outside of the newsroom, Patricia is often found sitting in front of her sewing machine, creating vintage-inspired garments made of recycled materials and listening to true crime podcasts.
