Mikhala Armstrong

Mikhala Armstrong joined KGET in September 2022 as a general assignment reporter after graduating from the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University, receiving a master’s degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism.

During her time at Syracuse University, Mikhala worked as a Washington D.C. correspondent for KGET, covering COVID, Monkeypox, abortion rights, and the Jan. 6 hearings. Mikhala also worked as a reporter for WAER news, the NPR radio station associated with Newhouse.

Before that, Mikhala attended San Diego State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in theater with an emphasis in performance and a minor in journalism. After graduating, she previously interned at KTVU, the top-rated Fox-affiliate station in Oakland.

Mikhala is from Oakland, and has a 2-year-old Maltipoo named Saint.
