Marisel Maldonado is a multimedia journalist for KGET. She joined the 17 News team in October 2017.
Marisel can be found behind the scenes. She began her career at KGET as the sunrise editor. Soon after, she became the dayside editor, editing the noon and evening shows. She joined the digital team in May, creating content exclusively for the online community.
Her passion is to bring stories to life – both behind the camera and in the editing room.
Marisel is a Kern County native and graduated from Wasco High School in 2011. She continued her education at California State University, Bakersfield, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Digital Media.
While at CSUB, Marisel was a photojournalist for The Runner, the school newspaper. She was also actively involved in The Film Club at CSUB.
Since Marisel was born and raised in Kern County, working at KGET has always felt a little more special. She loves her hometown community and is delighted to have a part in sharing their stories.
In her spare time, Marisel loves to spend time with her family and friends, traveling, hiking, and going to concerts. She also does photography as a hobby. She loves music, particularly Taylor Swift, binge-watching Stranger Things, and is a total film nerd.
