Luis Garcia joined the 17 News Team in September.
He is a digital producer writing breaking news, stories, social media management, and engaging with the community in search of the next big story. Luis is a Kern County native who grew up in Arvin and currently resides in Bakersfield.
He received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis in photojournalism from California State University Northridge. After graduating, Luis worked as a freelance photographer while simultaneously working in the tech industry.
When he’s not in the newsroom, Luis enjoys hiking, spending time with family, playing soccer, film photography and working in the darkroom.
