Jose Franco is a digital reporter for KGET. He has been a member of the 17 News team since June 2017.
Jose is a “jack-of-all-trades” in the 17 Newsroom from answering phones at most hours of the day, to writing breaking news stories to managing our social media pages.
Jose comes to Bakersfield from Burbank and the San Fernando Valley where he was born, raised and went to school. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2005.
After graduation, his career has led him from television news at ABC7 in Los Angeles to working and volunteering with a community broadcaster in Santa Clarita, to teaching journalism at colleges including Cal State Bakersfield.
In his spare time, he is an avid fan of the first 10 seasons of “The Simpsons,” the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers and — somehow — the Green Bay Packers. He wishes he read more books and spent a little less time on Twitter.
