Erica Torres

Erica Torres is Assignment Manager at KGET.

She oversees day-to-day operations of the newsroom and social media platforms. She is responsible for assigning reporters to stories and helping to guide station coverage on-air and online.

She began her career at 17 News as an intern and officially joined the team in March, 2010 as Associate Producer for 17 News at Sunrise. She remained behind the scenes and was promoted to producer. She has produced 17 News at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. and Sunrise, weekends and special edition newscasts. She is a three-time Emmy winning producer for the evening newscasts.

Erica was born and raised in Bakersfield. She graduated from Liberty High school in 2006. She continued her education at Bakersfield College and California State University, Bakersfield, where she earned a degree in Communications.

Erica loves living in her hometown and informing the community in which she grew up. She says it’s a dream come true to be working at KGET because it’s the only local news station her family grew up watching.

While she’s not working, Erica enjoys spending time with her husband, Tyler, and their husky named Sable. She enjoys running, spin class, and working out with her bootcamp friends. Erica’s favorite food is pizza and her favorite place to eat in Bakersfield is Luigi’s.
