Elaina Rusk

Elaina Rusk is the producer and anchor for 17 News Noon, as well as meteorologist. Elaina grew up outside of Sacramento and attended to California State University, Chico to obtain her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a concentration in News Editorial and a minor in psychology. She also spent a semester abroad studying Fine Arts & Humanities in London and loved exploring Europe as a broke college student.

Elaina began her career as a producer in Yakima, WA before jumping to a reporter position in Lawton, OK. In 2008, she moved back to Bakersfield to be closer to family and continued her journalism career as a reporter and producer. She was soon promoted to anchor and in 2011 she was moved to a weather position. Elaina loved it so much she went back to school online to get a certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She continues to forecast the weather from the 17 Pinpoint Weather Center for KERN Radio each weekday morning.

Elaina and her husband John, a Bakersfield native, were married in 2013 and have three beautiful young daughters and a happy old Labrador Molly.

In some of her free time, you can find her volunteering with the Junior League of Bakersfield and she serves as the Secretary on the board of the Kern County Science Foundation. She has a passion for promoting literacy and STEM education in Kern County.
