Evenflo Recalls Convertible High Chairs

June 6, 2012 -- Evenflo is recalling three models of its convertible high chairs because of safety concerns, says the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The reason for the recall is that the chairs' activity tray could unexpectedly detach, allowing unrestrained children to fall. Evenflo has received 18 reports of cases in which the trays detached. In nearly half of those cases, the toddler fell from the chair, suffering bumps and bruises.

Here are the three models being recalled:

• Dottie Lime (model number 29111259)
• Dottie Rose (model number 29111271)
• Marianna (model number 29111234)

You can find the model number on the lower part of one of the chair legs.

The $40 high chairs, which are designed to easily convert to a small table and chair, are sold at Walmart and Toys "R" Us, as well as online at Wayfair's web site. They've been available since December 2011. An estimated 35,000 of them have been sold in the U.S.

If you own one of the recalled models, the CPSC advises you to contact Evenflo, which is issuing replacement trays and instructions on how to use them.
