The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward
Matt Pettinger.
Pettinger, a veteran of 413 NHL games, failed to land an NHL job this summer
and signed a pro tryout contract with Manitoba of the AHL in October. He has
posted two goals and two assists in seven games with the Moose.
Last season with Tampa Bay, he notched eight goals and 15 points in 59 games
after being picked up on waivers from Vancouver.
The 29-year-old Edmonton native appeared in 20 games for the Canucks during
the 2007-08 season after being acquired in a deadline deal with Washington and
notched four goals with two assists.
A second-round pick by the Capitals in the 2000 draft, Pettinger has
64 goals and 56 assists for 120 points over parts of eight NHL seasons.
