The San Diego Chargers announced Monday that the team has waived wide receiver Chris Chambers.

A day after recording just one catch in a 24-16 win over the Raiders, Chambers was cut loose following the emergence of pass catcher Malcolm Floyd. Plus, with an injury to linebacker Tim Dobbins in the Oakland game the team will need to sign another linebacker.

Chambers must clear waivers in order to play for another team. Every team will have a chance to claim him by 4 p.m. (et) on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Chambers, who was obtained by San Diego from Miami prior to the 2007 trading deadline in exchange for a second-round pick, has seen a dropoff in his production this season. He has recorded just nine catches for 122 yards and a touchdown in four games.

For his career, the nine-year vet has amassed 6,827 yards and 53 touchdowns on 482 catches in 128 games for the Dolphins and Chargers.
