The San Diego Padres have outrighted the contracts of four players to Triple-A Portland, including pitcher Josh Geer, who made 17 starts for the club this season.

Geer, who also pitched in relief twice, was 1-7 with a 5.96 earned run average this year. He has a record of 3-8 with a 5.28 ERA in 24 games, including 22 starts, over parts of two big league seasons.

Also outrighted were outfielder Drew Macias, infielder Luis Rodriguez and catcher Eliezer Alfonzo. Rodriguez and Alfonzo have elected to become free agents.

Macias hit .197 in 51 games for the Padres in 2009 with a homer and seven runs batted in, while Rodriguez appeared in 93 games and batted .202 with a pair of homers and 16 runs batted in. Alfonzo played in 37 games this season and hit .175 with two homers and eight RBI.
