Royals ink P Boyer to minor league deal

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals signed pitcher Blaine Boyer to a minor league contract on Thursday.

Boyer, a seven-year major league veteran, has not pitched since the 2011 season, when he appeared in five games and posted an 0-2 record with a 10.80 earned-run average with the New York Mets.

Over 233 major league appearances with the Braves, Cardinals, Diamondbacks and Mets, Boyer has a career record of 9-14 with a 4.81 ERA and 162 strikeouts against 94 walks.
