Taylor Hall scored 17 seconds into overtime to
lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Magnus Paajarvi, Ben Eager and Shawn Horcoff also scored for the Oilers and
Horcoff had two assists. Nikolai Khabibulin had 39 saves for Edmonton, which
salvaged a 1-2 road trip after losing in Toronto and Detroit.

"We pushed ourselves into the game. Kudos to our team," said Oilers coach Tom
Renney. "We got it going."

Daniel Alfredsson, Milan Michalek and Erik Karlsson had goals for Ottawa and
Craig Anderson gave up four goals on 40 shots. The Senators fell to 1-6-2 in
their last nine after beating Nashville on Thursday to snap a seven-game
losing streak.

"We played pretty good," Alfredsson said. "It's encouraging to see the way
we're playing and skating. There were still a few lapses."

Hall led a rush in overtime, getting off a shot that was stopped by Anderson.
Horcoff tried to whack the rebound in, but was also denied, before Hall came
around the net on the left side and backhanded a loose puck into the open side
of the net for the win.

Earlier, Alfredsson opened the scoring 4:36 into the first period on a shot
from the point. Edmonton didn't tie it until 14:05 into the second when
Paajarvi was in the slot for an easy rebound.

That was the first of three goals in the six minutes of the second period.
Michalek made it 2-1 Ottawa, scoring through Khabibulin's legs on a break, and
Eager tied it again with 68 seconds left in the period on a wrister from the
left side.

Horcoff's goal came 42 seconds into the third period, and Karlsson scored
midway through the frame to tie it.

Game Notes

Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play...The Oilers are returning home for
three games against Toronto, Colorado and Vancouver starting
Wednesday...Ottawa is headed out on the road for three games against Tampa
Bay, Florida and the New York Islanders.

Evgeni Malkin had a goal and four assists,
as the Penguins downed the Jets, 8-5, on Saturday.
Kris Letang added two goals and an assist and Jordan Staal scored in his
first game back from a knee injury for the Penguins, who had gone 1-2-1 over
their previous four games.

Chris Kunitz added a goal and three assists, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 20
saves in the win.

"We wanted to play a little bit of a better game," said Staal. "We obviously
did a great job offensively to stay ahead of them but we have to play better
defensively if we want to keep winning."

Winnipeg had won two straight, including Thursday's comeback victory over the
Capitals, but was downed by a relentless Pittsburgh attack. Ondrej Pavelec
stopped 31-of-39 shots in the loss, while Tim Stapleton, Dustin Byfuglien and
Bryan Little all finished with a goal and an assist.

The Jets carried the momentum from Thursday's comeback, which saw them score
two late goals before winning in a shootout, into Saturday. They were ahead
2-0 before the midway point of the first on tallies by Kyle Wellwood and
Alexander Burmistrov. But the Penguins battled back, tying the game before the
first intermission behind goals from Dustin Jeffrey and James Neal.

They continued to surge in the second, as Kunitz drove home a snap shot just
3:12 in and Letang's backhander made it a 4-2 game near the midway point.
Stapleton responded minutes later, burying a centering pass from Blake
Wheeler, who had fallen down behind the net. But Malkin re-established a two-
goal advantage with a wrister towards the end of the period.

Byfuglien scored 4:35 into the third, wristing one home from the right
circle, but Richard Park negated the tally 19 seconds later with a tip-in
goal, making it 6-4.

Staal, who had missed 15 straight games due to a balky knee, pushed the
advantage to three with a wrister at the 7:48 mark and Letang answered
Little's goal at the midway point with a tally in the closing minutes to
seal the comfortable win.

"I thought it was poor," said Jets coach Claude Noel. "We didn't win battles.
Was there anything good out of that game?"

Game Notes

This was the third of four meetings between the teams this season. The
Penguins have won two of three thus far...Staal has six goals in his last 10
outings against Winnipeg...Fleury improved to 12-2 in his last 14 starts
against the Winnipeg franchise...Pavelec is 1-9 lifetime against the Penguins.

Mark Streit netted the game-winning goal 96
seconds into overtime as the New York Islanders downed the Los Angeles Kings,
2-1.
Michael Grabner scored the lone goal in regulation for the Islanders, who
bounced back from Thursday's loss to Montreal. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 34-of-35
shots to pick up the win.

Andrei Loktionov lit the lamp in regulation for the Kings, who are 1-4 on
their six-game road trip and have tallied just four times during the stretch.
Jonathan Quick made 23 saves.

"It's frustrating not getting the win, but at the same time getting one point
can be so critical, especially down the stretch," Kings center Mike Richards
said.

On the game-winner, Streit skated down the middle of the ice and eluded Milan
Jurcina in the high slot before snapping his backhander past Quick.

"I just took a shot at it and tried to (and) went through them. Luckily enough
it worked out and got the game-winner," Streit said.

The Islanders struck first at the 6:52 mark of the opening period. Mark
Eaton's slap shot from the top of the left circle was deflected in front
of Quick. Grabner pounced on the loose disc in the crease and wristed it into
the net.

Los Angeles tied the score on Loktionov's first tally of the season, 5:20 into
the second. Rob Scuderi sent a slap shot on net from the top of the left
circle and Loktionov put home the rebound.

Quick stopped 12 shots while Nabokov made 11 saves in the third period to send
the game into overtime.

Game Notes

The Kings' road trip ends in Dallas on Sunday...Both teams were 0-for-2 on the
power play...Grabner's goal was his 15th of the season...Los Angeles ranks
last in the NHL with 116 goals.

Tyler Seguin and Patrice Bergeron scored in the
shootout and the Boston Bruins beat the Nashville Predators, 4-3, on Saturday
afternoon.
Bergeron, Daniel Paille and Milan Lucic had goals in regulation as the Bruins
bounced back from a 6-0 loss to Buffalo on Wednesday to win for the second
time in five games.

Lucic tied the game with 67 seconds left in the third period.

Tim Thomas had 19 saves, including three in overtime, and stopped Sergei
Kostitsyn and Martin Erat in the shootout to earn the victory for Boston.

"We found a way to win. Over the past two years, that's what we've been good
at," said Thomas. "Mostly we've earned our wins and I think that's what we did
today."

Shea Weber, Patric Hornqvist and Mike Fisher had goals for the Predators, who
have lost four of their last five (1-2-2).

Indeed, both teams needed a win. The Bruins, after being routed by Buffalo,
came into the game just 5-6-1 in their previous 12 games. They peppered Pekka
Rinne with 41 shots through overtime and Nashville blocked another 29.

"They out-shot us. Probably out-played us, too," said Rinne. "We gave a point
away."

Fisher gave the Predators their first lead at 3-2 with 3:32 remaining when he
skated around the net to get his own rebound on a shot that skidded through
the crease and beat Thomas with a sharp backhand.

But Lucic tied it on a power play, picking up a rebound low on the right side
after a shot by Rich Peverley was ticked aside and flipped it into the net
with Rinne down in the crease.

The Bruins, testing Rinne all day, tried to sneak the game-winner through in
the last seconds of regulation. Brad Marchand had two good looks in a row but
both were stopped -- the second by the defenseman Weber, who slipped in behind
his own goaltender to knock the puck out of mid air.

Earlier, with the Bruins shorthanded, Bergeron opened the scoring with a shot
from the right side after a drop pass from Marchand late in the first period.

Weber scored with a slap shot from high on the left side during a power play
in the second period but Boston regained the lead on Paille's backhand goal in
front early in the third period. Hornqvist then tied it again midway through
the third, jamming in a loose puck from in front.

Game Notes

The teams have historically been evenly-matched. They had split the previous
10 games entering Saturday...Although they have lost four of their last five,
the Predators are 14-4-2 in their last 20.

Ryan Callahan's second career hat trick
helped the Rangers continue their winning ways against the Flyers this season,
as New York exited Philadelphia on Saturday with a 5-2 victory.
Marian Gaborik added a goal and three assists for the Rangers, who have won
all five of their meetings with the Flyers this season and increased their
winning streak in the series to seven games.

Artem Anisimov also lit the lamp for New York, which now leads Philadelphia in
the Atlantic Division standings by six points. Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves
in the victory.

"It's good. Anytime you get three goals obviously you are excited. Callahan
said. "It's a big game, especially with a team that's so close to you in the
standings. I had some pretty easy, tap in goals there. So it wasn't all me
tonight."

Wayne Simmonds had a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who have lost four of
five. Claude Giroux also scored.

Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 21-of-26 shots in defeat.

"It doesn't feel good. Obviously we played them five times and lost to them
five times so it is not a good feeling in here right now," Simmonds said.

The story of the game was the power play. New York was 3-for-7 with the man
advantage, while Philly went 0-for-4.

The Rangers started the game with a power-play goal from Callahan at the 8:25
mark of the first period. After taking a pass from Gaborik, Callahan managed
to score from a tough angle along the goal line.

Simmonds made it a tie game at the 13:03 mark. Andrej Meszaros' blast from the
right point deflected off Simmonds' leg and past Lundqvist.

New York, though, scored again on the man advantage with 3:20 left to make it
2-1. Brad Richards controlled the puck at the top of the right circle and
passed in front to Gaborik, who quickly redirected the puck past Bobrovsky.

The back-and-forth battle continued 6:36 into the middle stanza. A nice pass
from Simmonds put Giroux on a breakaway. Lundqvist put his arm down along the
line to stop Giroux's initial shot, but the Flyers forward was able to jam the
puck into the net.

But the Rangers swung the momentum back in their favor with another power-play
goal. The visitors got set up in the offensive zone, which resulted in Michael
Del Zotto controlling the puck in front of the net. His pass across the crease
led to Callahan's second goal of the contest.

New York put the game away with a pair of goals in the third stanza. Just 6:28
into the frame, Gaborik slid a pass from below the goal line to the right
circle for Derek Stepan, who slid the disc to the slot. From there, Anisimov
put the puck into the back of the net for a 4-2 margin.

Callahan completed his hat trick at the 11:25 mark. With Bobrovsky sprawled
out on the ice, Callahan lifted the puck over the goaltender and into the net.

Game Notes

Both of Callahan's hat tricks have come against the Flyers...New York was
without forward Ruslan Fedotenko after he took a shoulder to the head from
Tampa Bay's Dominic Moore on Thursday...The Rangers have outscored the Flyers
29-10 over the past seven encounters, shutting them out twice...The Rangers
scored three power-play goals in a game for the first time since March 15,
2011.

The New Jersey Devils surely won't miss seeing
Florida's Kris Versteeg for the rest of the season.
Versteeg put the Panthers ahead in the second period with his fifth goal in
four meetings against New Jersey this season, sending Florida to a 3-1 win
over the Devils at the Prudential Center.

Former Devils backup goaltender Scott Clemmensen got the better of his former
teammate, Martin Brodeur, stopping 27 shots in Florida's second straight win.
Sean Bergenheim also scored and Mikael Samuelsson added an empty-net goal in
the victory.

Clemmensen said the Panthers are translating what they learn in practice to
the game.

"For me it's like a practice day," Clemmensen said. "You have to be good in
practice. In this league everyone is so good. You have to do it day in and day
out."

Brodeur, returning after a one-game absence because of an ankle injury, turned
aside 17 shots in New Jersey's second straight loss and first regulation
defeat in eight games (5-1-2). Steve Bernier scored the lone goal for the
Devils.

Versteeg gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead at 7:43 of the second period after New
Jersey twice failed to clear its own zone.

The Panthers managed to keep the puck in and Stephen Weiss' shot from the top
of the slot was deflected by a New Jersey defender. The puck went directly to
Versteeg, who snapped a shot from the left circle past Brodeur for his 21st
goal of the season.

"It wasn't anything they did... we started to throw the puck away," said New
Jersey captain Zach Parise. "It's frustrating because we've been playing
really well of late. It wasn't a great effort by us."

Versteeg finished the season series with five goals and one assist. Clemmensen
also continued to haunt his old team, improving to 4-0 lifetime against the
Devils. He stopped all nine shots he faced in the second period and seven more
in the third.

The Devils failed to convert a late power play -- their only chance of the
game -- and Samuelsson found the empty cage with 25 seconds remaining.

New Jersey grabbed the lead just 1:39 into the game when Bernier deflected the
puck past Clemmensen. Dainius Zubrus intercepted a poor clearing pass along
the right boards and sent pass toward the net. The puck first tipped the stick
of Alexei Ponikarovsky before Bernier chipped it through the five-hole for his
first goal as a Devil.

The Panthers tied it on a power play with 4:52 left in the opening period.
Moments after Zubrus took a hooking penalty, Bergenheim deflected Erik
Gudbranson's shot from just above the left circle past Brodeur for his 11th
goal of the season.

"We came out well, the first 10 minutes," said Devils head coach Pete DeBoer.
"We were playing our seventh game in [12] days and I think we ran out of
little bit of gas."

The Canucks have been piling up the points lately and
Vancouver will try to keep that trend going tonight, when it visits the
Calgary Flames for a Northwest Division clash at the Saddledome.
The Canucks, who lead the division by 14 points over Colorado, have won three
straight and have recorded at least a point in eight straight outings (6-0-2).
Vancouver has suffered just two regulation losses during the 2012 calendar
year, posting a 10-2-3 mark since the beginning of January.

Vancouver will also try to end a four-game road trip with a perfect 4-0 record
tonight. The Canucks, who are three points behind Detroit for the top seed in
the West and the NHL, have a league-best 19-9-1 record as the guest this
season.

The Canucks were glad to have Henrik Sedin in the lineup for their last game
and he scored a goal in Vancouver's 5-2 win in Minnesota. Sedin took a puck
off his ankle in Tuesday's win over Nashville, but the Swedish forward was
able to play in his 553rd consecutive game on Thursday. Only Calgary
defenseman Jay Bouwmeester has a longer active iron man streak in the NHL.

"All Swedes are tough, right?" Vancouver defenseman and Sedin's countryman
Alex Edler joked after the game. "Hank is a warrior, he's played with pain
before and it was big of him."

Daniel Sedin had a goal and an assist in the win over the Wild, while Maxim
Lapierre, Manny Malhotra and Ryan Kesler also scored for the Canucks. It was
Vancouver's first regulation win since a 4-3 decision over San Jose on Jan.
21.

Cory Schneider had 22 saves to post the win for the Canucks, but Roberto
Luongo expects to be back between the pipes tonight.

Henrik Sedin enters tonight on a five-game point streak, while Kesler has
scored goals in five consecutive outings and has six tallies and one assist
during a seven-game point streak.

The Flames are 2-0-2 so far in February and will try to use a brief two-game
homestand to aid their push for the playoffs. Calgary is currently tied with
Minnesota for the 11th seed in the West and is just two points out of a
playoff spot.

Calgary ended a three-game road trip on Thursday with a 2-1 overtime setback
in Phoenix. Shane Doan scored the game-winner in OT for the Coyotes.

Olli Jokinen tallied a goal and Leland Irving made 34 saves in what was the
Flames' fourth loss in six games.

"We knew it wasn't going to be an easy game." Flames head coach Brent Sutter
said. "It's a point you could of had that you let get away from you, but the
positive is that you did get a point."

The Flames, who will also Toronto on Tuesday, are 14-8-2 as the host this
season compared to an 11-14-6 mark on the road.

Calgary had lost five straight in the series with the Canucks before posting a
3-1 win in Vancouver the last time the clubs met on Dec. 23. The Canucks have
still claimed five straight at the Saddledome.

The Phoenix Coyotes will try to extend their season-high
win streak to five games when they host the sliding Chicago Blackhawks in
tonight's clash at Jobing.com Arena.
Phoenix has posted four straight victories for the first time since its last
five-game winning streak from March 10-18 of last season. The hot streak has
helped lift the Coyotes into the eighth and final playoff seed in the Western
Conference, where Phoenix leads Dallas and Colorado by just one point.
Minnesota and Calgary are only two points behind the Coyotes in the crowded
West.

Meanwhile, Chicago has fallen down to sixth in the West thanks to an 0-6-1
slide that began before the All-Star break. The Blackhawks are five points
ahead of Phoenix in the conference standings.

Coyotes captain Shane Doan came through with a dramatic goal in Phoenix's most
recent victory, as he scored the game-winner in overtime to lift his club to a
2-1 decision over the visiting Calgary Flames on Thursday.

Calgary's Mikael Backlund was whistled for tripping 2:07 into the extra frame
and the Coyotes took advantage of the penalty with the game-winner when Radim
Vrbata fed a pass from the right of the net to the top of the left circle,
where Doan blasted a one-timer past Leland Irving.

Taylor Pyatt scored in regulation for the Coyotes, while Mike Smith stopped
22-of-23 shots in the win.

"You've got to find ways to get points," Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett said.
"It was just not a pretty game at all so we'll take the points, stick those in
the bank and move on."

The victory improved Phoenix to 13-10-4 on home ice this year and the Coyotes
are wrapping a brief two-game residency tonight. Following today's tilt, the
Coyotes will play four of their next six games away from the desert.

Chicago's last four setbacks have come in regulation and the Blackhawks were
dealt a 5-3 loss Friday night in San Jose. Benn Ferriero's goal early in the
third period proved to be the winner for the Sharks, who sent Chicago to its
seventh straight defeat.

Marcus Kruger scored twice in the loss, while Bryan Bickell also lit the lamp
for Chicago, which is in the midst of its worst skid since an 0-6-2 stretch
from Dec. 30-Jan. 11 during the 2007-08 season. The Blackhawks also fell to
0-4-1 on a season-long nine-game road trip and Joel Quenneville's club is now
just 10-13-3 as the guest this season.

"We know we can win hockey games. We have got a good team, but we just have to
get our confidence back," Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa said after Friday's
loss. "We have to play a team game. We win as a team and we lose as a team."

Corey Crawford allowed all five goals on 27 shots to take the loss on Friday
and Ray Emery could get the start tonight.

Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson sat out Friday's game with flu-like
symptoms and is also questionable for tonight. Hjalmarsson has one goal, 11
assists and a plus-five rating in 54 games this season.

This evening's tilt marks the fourth and final scheduled meeting between the
Coyotes and Blackhawks this year. Phoenix has taken two straight from Chicago
since losing the season series opener at Jobing.com Arena on Oct. 18. The
Coyotes have won four of seven overall in this series, but Chicago has taken
two straight on the road.
