On the last day before Arvin chooses its mayor, controversy was swarming. Former Councilwoman Carman Acevedo accused former mayor and candidate again for the job, Juan Olivares of domestic violence.
"Right now, I'm just doing what I have to protect the welfare and safety of my children and myself," Acevedo said.
That's all Acevedo would tell 17's Tim Calahan Monday.
But Calahan spoke with Olivares, who said he went out on a date with Acevedo Friday Night, were supposed to meet back at Acevedo's house.
When she didn't show, he used a hidden key to enter the house. The home alarm system went, off and Arvin Police were called.
Although no arrests were made, according to Arvin Police Lt. Olin Armstrong, officers found Olivares inside the residence without permission. Armstrong took the case to the District Attorney's Lamont office for evaluation Monday afternoon.
Prosecutors will decide whether a crime has been committed and whether charges should be filed.
Acevedo wouldn’t further describe what happened Friday night, but said she'd make a statement after the police report is made public.
