USGS reports small quake in Southern California

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a 3.8 magnitude has been reported in Southern California near the Mexico border.

A preliminary earthquake report that had not yet been reviewed by a seismologist said the tremor hit at 11:36 p.m. Monday. It was centered 9 miles east southeast of Ocotillo, Calif., and 69 miles east off Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
