BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Law enforcement officials from the Middle East, Europe and other parts of the world have wrapped up a two-day conference in Beverly Hills, where they discussed ways of improving coordination and knowledge sharing.

About 60 top officials came for the conference, including Interpol president Khoo Boon Hui and representatives from several Gulf states.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, who organized the event, said Thursday that police agencies benefit by sharing tactics and intelligence.

As one example, he said aspects of Saudi Arabian rehabilitation techniques for terrorism prisoners at the end of their sentences also could be applied to members of Los Angeles street gangs.

He said the conference was sponsored mainly by the royal family of Qatar.
