ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — A Northern California man is being held on $1.83 million bail after being arrested on suspicion of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from a trucking and warehouse company.

Police say Jorge Jensen Baraibar was arrested outside his Benicia home Wednesday over allegations he embezzled at least $380,000 while he worked at Bobac C.F.S. Corp. in Alameda.

The company operates a warehouse that stores shipping containers that are waiting to be inspected after arriving at the Port of Oakland.

Alameda police detective Greg Ella says the 46-year-old Baraibar is facing up to 182 counts of grand theft after he allegedly diverted checks intended for the company and deposited them into his own accounts.

It's not know if Baraibar had retained an attorney.
