Ipads will make the indoctrination easier and more seamless for "learning" institutions as they can modify the text and content of so-called published material without you even knowing it. Advice to Garces students: Don't forget the Inquistion.

Come on ginny and SATC3456, don't be so stupid. Garces is a PRIVATE school. It's not part of the KC high school district. So don't worry, none of your tax dollars will be used for this project.

While this seems like a great idea, especially with the budget cuts the schools seem to continuously receive, I think it will end up being a disaster. Many teenagers (I stress, not all!!) do not take care of the things they own. What makes the school think that they will take extra special care with these IPADS?

While this is a growing trend in Education in this country there are areas that need to be considered when issuing/using these devices. They should be locked down so that students cannot use them for facebook and other social media sites, access should and can be limited to learning sites/tools. Mis-use and damage/loss of a device should be the responsibility of the student and his/her family. Has the cost of tech support been identified and how many additional resources will be added to the district payroll in order to keep these devices up and running? What are the costs of system upgrades per device/overall? Or has the district purchased a support contract and what is that cost, what are the SLA's (service level agreement) for repair and will it include a temporary replacement so that a student is not left without a device for a period of time and be left behind in the learning process? Lots of questions come with this change and since most in Education are not fluent in technology, who is seeing that the taxpayer is getting the right product for their money?
