Houchin Blood Bank hosted a blood drive on Black Friday and will host another one Saturday. Organizers are hoping shoppers will take a break to roll up their sleeves and give blood.
"Historically everyone knows the Friday after Thanksgiving to be Black Friday which all retailers hope to get into the black," said Houchin C.E.O. Greg Gallion. "From our perspective it's always a slow day between Friday and Saturday, but people are out of town traveling and it's the time when we need blood and platelets the most.
The drive takes place at Houchin Blood Bank on the Truxtun Extension from 9a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 28th.
Those who donate blood can enter a drawing for a chance to win a $1,500 travel voucher through Uniglobe Travel.
