The California Highway Patrol wants your help finding a man who ran over a Bakersfield woman, dropped her off at the hospital, then left.

The accident happened just after dark on February 18th.

Stephanie Tweedy was walking along Pioneer Drive in east Bakersfield when a silver Dodge Durango pulled up to a stop sign and stopped. The next thing she knew, she was being run over.

"I didn't know what happened. I was kind of disoriented and was like 'Oh my God, this didn't really just happen,' I told him. He came out of the car and was like 'Oh my God.' And, he wanted to get me out from under the car," said Tweedy.

Tweedy says the driver put her in his car and drove her to San Joaquin Community Hospital. Surveillance video shows the man walking into the lobby, grabbing a wheelchair and going back out for Tweedy.

As she was being examined, the man left without giving anyone his name or insurance information.

Tweedy's medical bills total more than $10,000. But, since she doesn't have insurance, the bill was reduced to $3,500.

Tweedy considers herself lucky. All she suffered was some pain, bruising, and a broken phone.

"I just want him to cover the bill. I don't have insurance and I am going to school. I'm not working right now. I don't have any money. I just want this bill taken care of," said Tweedy.

The man is described as Hispanic, in his 20's, about 5'9" with a medium build.

If you have any information, call the CHP at 846-4444.

Stephanie Tweedy says she is not mad and isn't looking to pursue charges, she only wants her bills paid.

They were going to charge the Insurance company 10000.00 when the real cost was 3500. What's up with that?

At least the driver took her to a hospital. More than most will do. But it shows why insurance is so high. If insurance was paying the bill it would have been billed more than $10,000 but reduced to $3,500 because there's no insurance to over charge.

Thank God she was not seriously injured. This story could have been so much worse. Hopefully the CHP catches up with this law breaker. Let's see how long it takes for the racists to rear their ugly heads.
