A Hazmat situation northwest of Bakersfield sent two workers to the hospital Wednesday morning.

Kern County fire crews were called to Lucich Farms on Zerker Road to reports of workers exposed to ammonia.

Officials say the two men were working on a purge system containing the chemical diluted with water, and it somehow splashed them.

Hazmat crews and the Kern County Public Health Department made sure the area was safe before workers were allowed to return.
