Two Bakersfield CHP officers accused in a sexual assault investigation, have resigned.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two officers, whose names have not been released, submitted their resignations last Friday.
The woman accusing the officers, says the sexual assault happened after she left the Sky Bar Lounge on Rosedale Highway with two friends around 2 a.m. last month.
She says they had too much to drink and a Sheriff's Deputy pulled her over for speeding near Merle Haggard Drive and Highway 99. That deputy then called the CHP to give her a field sobriety test. She says she failed all the tests, and the officers told her she could either be arrested for DUI or they could follow her home.
When they got to the woman's home, she says one officer followed her into her bedroom and raped her.
The District Attorney's office says it could take 30 days to get test results back on DNA samples taken from the woman, her bedroom, and the officers involved.
