Cal-State Bakersfield held its third annual "Ally Rally," focusing on the acceptance of gays in our community.

Students, teachers, and community members joined for a panel discussion on how they can be effective allies for gay, lesbian, and transgender people.

Members of the public came to ask questions, share their experiences, and give support for friends, family, and loved ones.

Even teachers talked about how hate issues pop up in the classroom, and shared how they deal with the situations.

they dont general come out and say evil things, its the asides and tittering, and thats when i stop. to me you teach people how to treat you and i want to teach these students its disrespectful," said Christy Gavin, CSUB Instructor.

Organizer Anne Duran said in a statement that this rally comes at an opportune time after President Obama's recent comments about supporting gay marriage.

Umm, abhorrant deviants want respect? You know, it's hard to respect a man who finds love in the hairy crack of another man's butt.

No, it's all about respect. They want to be treated with respect like everyone else. The rally is supposed to show dummies like YOU that they are people and should be treated as such. Unless they're out there having an orgy, which I highly doubt. Maybe that's what you want to see, you know you can just look up gay porn online. It might relieve a little bit of that tension, but until you're brave enough to come out, you will still have all of this anger pent up inside. I won't even respond to the child molester comment, it was just plain stupid, and the fact that people agreed, WOW. Bakersfield people are just... wow. No wonder people think of our city as a joke. Let them LIVE here, then they'll see how big of a joke it truly is.

jodeno just the fact that they have the need for this rally make my point about how they can't keep it to them selves. It's all about show and the more they can show they are gay in public the better.

What shows are gay people putting on in public murph? Where is it exactly that you go that you see gay people putting on these shows? This is why they are having this tolerance rally, because of idiots like you and the others who commented who do nothing but judge people you don't even know. I have never seen any gay person putting on any kind of a "show" ANYWHERE, and by show I assume you mean making out, not just kissing but slobbering on each other and groping each other and perhaps even getting a bit sexual. Nope, never seen a gay couple doing that in public but have seen many straight couples doing it. But I guess since they're straight they have the right NOT to keep it in the bedroom. It's funny when you say that, that they should keep it in the bedroom, because you know you don't really mean it. You wish there were no gay people PERIOD. Like YOU have any right to say how other people live their lives. Like a stranger being gay makes it harder for you to live YOUR OWN life. I think guys like you are either gay or bi themselves (or at least bi-curious) and you don't want to be and that's why you always put down gays. I can't wait until the day when all you closed minded racist homophobic old timers are gone from the face of this earth, maybe then people will get along and not hate each other for NO REASON. Too bad you most likely passed your hate on to your children.....

It's rather simple how to treat gays, lesbians and transexuals. One might think you should treat them equal but that's not the case. You treat them as supperiors. Make any comment about a gay without carefull choosing your words, you're gay bashing. So only praise them. If a gay picks a physical altercation with you, don't hit them back. If you do you'll be prosecuted for a hate crime by defending yourself.

CSUB promotes homosexuality and if you are a student there and have a problem with that, you are discriminated against and harassed. There is not a free, respectful exchange of information.

Simple why to solve the problem, if all the sick gay people will stop putting a show on out in public and keep it in the bed room we will have no more problems.
