Toddler killed by falling TV

Bakersfield police are calling the death of a 14 month old boy, an accident. Police arrived at a home in the 3100 block of Ashe Road Saturday morning.

Police say both parents were home, when the child crawled onto a TV stand and opened a drawer. The TV fell on the boy causing major injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

Police say no criminal charges will be filed against the parents.

Mskim, we are quick to blame because it does happen all the time. Parents get preoccupied and their children get out of the house and get hurt. It doesn't seem like anyone learns from other peoples mistakes because it keeps happening.

Why must everyone go straight to blame when there is a freak accident? I can guarantee you MOST people do not have their TV anchored down and this horrible accident may send them to Home Depot/Lowes to do that now. Zingos, although it is likely that this was a old type TV, this was a 14 month old baby, a Flat screen TV could easily hit a baby and kill them instantly.
