About 2,000 people got down and dirty over the weekend for a good cause.
Runners tackled the obstacles Saturday morning at the annual Volkslauf mud run off of Merle Haggard Drive near Meadows Field Airport.
The 5k and 10k competition has been dubbed "The Ultimate Challenge."
Some of the favorites include devils dog ditch and the stairway to heaven.
Proceeds benefit the Toys for Tots program & other Kern County charitable organizations.
