Thousands traveled back to the old west for the 56th annual Whiskey Flat Days in Kernville. With gorgeous weather repeat attendees think this may be the biggest year yet.
Cars lined up for miles just outside of Kernville. With an hour long parade and many more attractions Whiskey Flats didn't disappoint.
"It's a beautiful thing," said John Combs from Henderson, Nevada.
"Always here on Whiskey Flats," said Nancy Combs from Henderson, Nevada. "Been coming since I was 5 years old which was a long time ago."
It's a celebration of the area's wild west days. The parade has costumes, horses and plenty of shooting.
"I learn more and more about our history and our culture how it's been celebrated through and how the Indians celebrate their's," said Shayne Maynard of Wofford Heights.
"We have a cabin up here," said Stephanie Combs of Las Vegas. "We come every year. It's just fun and they have kettle corn."
"Came out to enjoy the Kern River Valley Basin festivities, the fine music, parade, excellent weather, family and friends and a lot of noise," said J.J. Combs of Las Vegas.
With packed streets many think the crowds this year could break records and they credit the weather.
"This has been the warmest usually we're freezing out here," said Stephanie Combs.
"When you have the good weather people like to come out and play," said John Combs.
They like to play and thankfully for Kernville spend money.
"It boosts the economy for this little town," said J.J. Combs. "I think everybody gets a little money out of it."
If the parade didn't suit you there's always the kids favorite part.
"I like the rides," said 10-year-old Kayla Combs.
"I won a big teddy bear on one of the carnival games," said J.J. Combs.
"It's been a great day and couldn't be any better," said Dennis Kelley of Wofford Heights.
It's just some of the many things that keep people coming year after year and hopefully keep people coming for many years to come.
"It's our thing to do," said Maynard. "It's what we do best is come to enjoy it."
Whiskey Flat Days will continue through Sunday.
