Among many statements made by Sheriff Youngblood of Kern County, CA in an interview with Jaz McKay, the following stood out to me, paraphrase: "They're (the Federal Government) not going to send 500 agents to start taking your guns. They don't have the man-power." I wonder what Sheriff Youngblood's reaction to an Executive Order will be when the President circumvents the Sheriff's Department and recruits "Special Agents" from the local population?

The CCW permit is not just good in the County, but statewide, except in otherwise prohibited places such as Post Offices, schools and government buildings. If you get a CCW, best to plan on a lot of continuing proficiency training, staying up on applicable laws, lining up a firearm friendly attorney, getting the right personal liability insurance, and being sure that when the unavoidable moment comes you will have the mental focus to shoot a person (or more than one person) and dealing with the legal, financial and physchological aftermath. Owning and carrying a concealed handgun is a huge responsibility and if you aren't willing to live up to that responsibility every day, then it's best to forget all this and just get a dog and a cell phone.
