"The Biggest Loser" trainer Jillian Michaels wants to come to your house and whip your family into shape. Casting call directors were at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Thursday for "The Biggest Loser" spin-off "Losing it All" and will hit seven other cities in the coming weeks. Show producers hope to find eight separate families that will lose it all. 130 people showed up to try out for the new reality TV show that Jillian Michaels will host. Will Chandler wants to lose about half of his current weight.
"My goal is to lose 200 pounds," Chandler said.
He explained to show producers why Michaels needs to come to his house and whip his whole family into shape.
"my brother, mother and sister are overweight," Chandler said to casting producers.
Chandler and others will know by 9 pm Thursday whether they made the first cut, and "Losing it All" casting call Director Jodi Thomas says it will be tough to choose just 10 to 15 finalists.
"If we could interview everybody and put them on camera, we will," Thomas said. "We want to give everyone that opportunity to say, 'we know where you're at.'"
Rodney Young says his life depends on it.
"I have no ambition to do anything, go anywhere. And i know if i let it continue, I won't go anywhere," Young said choking back tears. "And I'll end up losing my wife, my job...not really worried too much about my life because if i'm gone she'll probably better off."
Young's wife told 17 News she couldn't bear the thought of losing her husband, and she doesn't feel that way about him. Young's daughter gave him a hug after he spoke with 17 News, trying to reassure her father that he is loved. Young thinks he weighs around 500 pounds, but he says it's impossible to know his exact weight.
"They don't make a scale that big--I'd have to go to the post office or something to weigh myself," Young explained. "You know, I can't just go in and step on something that weighs 350 because there's no sense stepping on it so you quit worrying about how much you weigh."
The show will begin filming in about a month, and is set to air this spring or early summer.
