I am sorry if you mistook me...conservative values do not bully people. But when children are not taught that they are other points of view and differentness in the world, and they are taught that their (or their parents) points of view is the ONLY point of view they don't understand how to reconcile those ideas in the real world, and that is what causes bullying. momof3 has it right...we need to teach our children RESPECT! And that starts at home...the school can not be soley responsible for that! The blame in this case does not rest on the school, or the bullies...but the blame is the communities!

I think bullying comes from all sides. Things I believe are immoral or wrong are force fed to my children without my consent. I think people try to push their beliefs in both directions. All we need to do is treat people with respect, it doesn't mean we have to think their behaviors are right or moral. If you want to believe that your way is right fine. If you want to hear my way and choose not to believe thats fine too. If I choose to continue to believe my way after hearing your way that is fine too. That is each of our own responsibilites and rights. You will never bully me into a belief that is not my own. Everyone needs to be preaching respect of another, not trying to force everyone to the same beliefs. RESPECT is the answer to it all.

I have been a resident of Tehachapi for quite some time now and I have also been teaching at the high school for a while. I would like to say that bullying is in NO WAY accepted in my classroom!!! I do not let anyone bully anyone! What is sad...when these students get into trouble in my classroom...they don't understand what they did wrong! They respond with "I have be saying that to him/her for years!" The conservatism of this community is both a blessing and a curse. We are teaching our children wonderful values that most of America has forgotten, but we are also continuing a circle of hate that has gone way too far! I am very sad that I will never get to know Seth and have him sit in one of my desks!

MY DAUGHTER HAS ATTENED JACOBSEN FOR 2 YRS THIS IS HER 3RD YR THERE, I CAN SAY THAT THESE ARE THE BEST YEARS OF HER LIFE. WOULD IT BE THAT EASY FOR SOMEONE TO BULLY HER AND NO ONE NOT DO CRAP ABOUT IT- "HELLO" IF IT CAN HAPPEN TO HIM IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY OF OUR CHILDREN

sunny1968 you are correct, in fact we dealt with bullying at Jacobsen last year and informed the principal and the Super intendent and it was ignored by all of the staff. We called 17 news to share our thoughts and the story got snubbed for what ever reason. I think the belief is if we ignore it then it is not happening. They preach a zero tolerance but they dont uphold it. Any negative results of bullying is a direct result of them not inforcing there own policies.

There are plenty of anti-bullying rules in schools now a days. That's EVERY school. I've seen kids get expelled for saying things that really weren't that mean or nasty. However the school can do NOTHING if no one reports the bullying. Everyone puts the onus

BULLYING SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED PERIOD! END OF STORY. TEACHERS AND THE PRINCIPAL SHOULD ALREADY BE HAVING MEETING'S ABOUT STOPPING BULLYING AND TEACHER'S NEED TO INFORM THE CHILDREN THAT IF ANYONE IS CAUGHT BULLY THEY WILL BE SUSPENEDED FROM SCHOOL. DID THEY EVEN HAVE THIS SUBJECT IN SCHOOL! NO THEY DID NOT. ALL SCHOOLS NEED TO STOP IT IN THE BUD! NOW!! BEFORE ANOTHER CHILD DIES.
