One by one students are let back into their classrooms, to pick up backpacks and books, things they left behind after a student opened fire first period.
Class is not in session, but students lined up, starting just before 10 to get their things. Counselors were on hand for students and teachers as well, many are hoping to move on and put Thursday's shooting behind them, throwing all their support behind those in the classroom including the 16-year-old who was shot Bowe Cleveland.
"Today is just a day making sure the kids are taken care of and the teachers are taken care of," says Taft Police Chief Ed Whiting.
"It's weird looking at the science building, I'm never going to be able to walk in the same way." adds Taft Union High School sophomore Bryson Martin.
"Our town has really come together everyone cares you know Bowe was loved he was a great kid and everyone is here to support him," says junior Mackenzie Thornsberry.
Counseling will be available for the kids and teachers all day. School is in session at the elementary and junior high school.
School officials say classes will resume Tuesday at Taft Union High School.
