We have new details on the robbery at Foods Co. last month that left Guadalupe Ramos dead.
Two more alleged gang members have been booked on murder and robbery charges.
On Wednesday, 17 News spoke with the man, police say, knocked the elderly woman down and caused her death.
This may be the first Kern murder connected to the state's early prison release program.
Early Wednesday morning, Bakersfield police arrested Lawrence Slaughter and Christopher Patterson. They and Maxamillon McDonald all face first degree murder, robbery, and gang charges for the death of Ramos.
"I'm innocent," said 19-year-old Christopher Patterson from jail Wednesday.
Police say public outcry over the death of a defenseless senior prompted witnesses to come forward.
"Their assistance led or assisted detectives in obtaining the Ramey warrants for these suspects," said Bakersfield Police Detective Uriel Pacheco.
According to police, 28-year-old Lawrence Slaughter and 26-year-old Maxamillon McDonald waited in a car nearby while Patterson ran up and ripped the necklace off Ramos' neck, causing her to fall.
According to the Coroner's office, Ramos died of a heart attack caused by the ordeal.
Patterson says he was in jail a week before the robbery, but was freed under the state's prison realignment, which allows non-violent, non-serious offenders to be released to county supervision.
In the past, he was arrested for attempted murder, but those charges were dropped after police could not find a witness, according to the District Attorney's office.
Patterson tells 17 News he joined a gang when he was 12 or 13. But, he says police have the wrong guy.
"I don't know. I wasn't there. It wasn't me. I'm innocent, that's it. Maybe somebody looks like me," said Patterson.
In 2007, authorities said they planned to charge Slaughter with a gang murder, but those charges were never filed.
All three suspects are due in court Thursday.
