County supervisors will take a closer look at the problem of house squatting. There's been a spike over the last few years of people who don't own a home moving into it after the original owners were foreclosed upon.
County lawyers looked at some of the ways Kern County can toughen it's policies including requiring lenders who foreclose on a home to create a vacant property registry.
Some California counties also have created minimum property maintenance requirements.
