Someone in Bakersfield is a lot richer after hitting the jackpot over the weekend - but not in the Mega Millions.  It was for Saturday's Super Lotto Plus drawing.

Someone bought the winning ticket worth 17 million dollars from the Shell gas station at Ming Avenue and Real Road.

Super Lotto Plus is played only in California.

Two tickets here in Bakersfield matched five of the six numbers in the record-breaking Mega Millions jackpot.  One ticket was sold at the Mobile station on Taft Highway and the other at the Chevron on Stockdale Highway and Allen Road.

Each ticket is worth almost 228 thousand dollars. Three tickets matched all the numbers and will split the 656 million dollar jackpot.

I am surprised to hear on channel 17 news that Bakersfield law enforcement is at the store checking surveillance tapes to see who the winner is. I believe that this is a waste of tax payer money. No crime has been committed and if I were the winner I would be furious about this invasion of privacy. The winner has the absolute right to remain anonymous and law enforcement has more important things to do with their time. CONGRATS TO THE WINNER!!
