Good news if you're in the market for a new appliance.

California is expanding the "Cash for Appliances" program starting today.

The program is adding dishwashers, freezers, water heaters and heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems to the list of appliances eligible for rebates.

The amount of the rebate varies from 50 to 1,000 dollars depending on the appliance.

Consumers seeking a rebate must submit proof they bought a new, qualifying appliance and disposed of their old one.

Why is the state handing out rebate money, when they can't even pay their bills or make a budget! How asinine are our politicians.
