News Release from Bakersfield Police Department:
On 11/20/09, at 11:00 p.m. Bakersfield Police responded to San Joaquin Hospital for a victim of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two victims: Ramiro Hernandez (33), of Bakersfield, and Alexander Vera (24), of Bakersfield.
Hernandez was suffering from several stab wounds to his upper torso and left arm. Vera had suffered a laceration to his head. Both victims reported that the injuries were sustained during a fight outside the Que Pasa Restaurant, located at Valley Plaza. Hernandez’s injuries were serious and he was transferred to Kern Medical Center for further treatment. Vera was treated and released.
While officers were at Kern Medical Center, with Hernandez, a third victim arrived. He was identified as: Adrian Robles (27), of Bakersfield. He was suffering from a single stab wound to his chest. He also reported being stabbed during the same incident at Que Pasa.
Further investigation revealed that the incident began after unknown subjects threw an object into a vehicle which was driving passed the front of Que Pasa Restaurant. The driver of the vehicle stopped and the occupants exited and became involved in a fight with numerous other subjects who were outside the restaurant. While this fight was occurring another subject took the above vehicle and fled in it. It was later located at the Ranch Market on S. ‘H’ Street and the
subject was taken into custody. He was identified as Jesus Rangel (23), of Bakersfield. Rangel was later transported and booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of grand theft auto and possession of a stolen vehicle.
It appears that during the fight at Que Pasa one of the original occupants of the vehicle assaulted the above victims and then fled the scene. He was identified as Cipriano Ramirez (25), of Bakersfield. He was later located and arrested in
the 2300 block of S. ‘J’ Street. Ramirez was transported and booked into the Kern County Jail for 3 counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Hernandez and Robles are in stable condition at Kern Medical Center.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Bakersfield Police at 661-327-7111.
