The Highway Patrol has closed eastbound Highway 58 at Towerline Road, closing the principal route from Bakersfield to Tehachapi.
It's snowing heavily at the summit by Keene, the CHP said.
The closure came at about 4:45, well after snow closed Interstate 5 over the Grapevine, Highway 14 between Mojave and Lancaster, Highway 166 west of Maricopa, and several other roads.
