A storm system dropped rain and snow in Kern County early Tuesday, leading to the closure of Highway 58 between Towerline Road and Exit 165 in Mojave.
There was no immediate estimate when the roadway would reopen, said CHP Officer Robert Rodriguez.
Also, the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office announced the following school alerts:
Caliente Snow and/or Ice Closure
El Tejon Snow and/or Ice Delay (2 Hours)
Tehachapi Snow and/or Ice Closure
