A skydiver is getting ready for the jump of his life. Felix Baumgartner of Austria will try to break a free fall record from the edge of space Tuesday morning wearing nothing but a helmet, space suit, and parachute.
After five years of preparation, two test jumps, and various delays, the jump has been delayed again this morning until at least 10:15 a.m. our time due to winds.
If successful, it will be the longest-ever free fall from 120 thousand feet above the earth's surface. Baumgartner will reach speeds of up to 690 miles per hour and will attempt to break the sound barrier, which has never been done outside a vehicle.
