Starting Tuesday, a series of meetings will be held on the safety of the Lake Isabella Dam. The Army Corps of Engineers will outline the environmental impact report on a project to make the dam safer and the public will have a chance to give their input.

New modifications outlined by federal engineers last month include increasing the height of the dam by 16 feet. Six years ago, they said water from the lake was seeping out of the dam at higher than normal rates.

There's also an active fault line that runs beneath it.

The first meeting is Tuesday night in Kernville from 6 to 8 p.m. at Odd Fellows Hall, followed by one in Lake Isabella tomorrow at the Senior Center.

The last meeting is Thursday in Bakersfield at the Board of Supervisors Chambers.

I'd like to know how much money they have spent on all of these "studies". I'll bet they have spent as much on the studies as they will on the fix (if it ever gets done). Just ridiculous.
