Protesters gathered Monday morning as President Obama arrived in Bakersfield, hoping he would see their messages to him.
"16 trillion reasons why Obama shouldn't be re-elected. My two daughters and everyone else's kids are going to have to pay. He is going the wrong way. It's bad for all of us... especially the middle class," said Stephen Pavich.
"I'm here to help support to get Obama out of there because he's destroying our country. All of our vets are going right down the tubes because of him. People don't remember. It all started down before he was elected. So it started with his being approved and when he beat Hillary it got worse," said Robert Jennings.
"I'm here to protest his numbers on unemployment. I was laid off by a big company two weeks after he took office, and for the first time in my life I have to fight to work. I'm a hard worker, working two or three jobs to survive," said Karen Beauchamp.
The substantial crowd also included supporters gathered at Norris Road and Airport Drive, along the airport's southeast corner.
But, the protesters were set up south of the airport on Norris Road, and the President's motorcade left to the northwest to Merle Haggard, then Porterville Highway and onto Highway 99.
