Proposition 30 passes: When will it take effect?

The sales tax won't increase until the votes are certified next month. Income tax increases on the wealthy are retroactive on income earned this year. But, schools won't see that money until June.

all governor moonbeam had to do was to tell the kool aid drinkers that they were going to tax the rich and they just fell into line to get another glass of kool aid. they won't realize the actual impact for 6 months to a year- when they realize they are also paying more taxes for everything they purchase, gas, food, clothes.....then the big hit will come-the "rich" people making 250,000 a year (mostly small business owners) will then raise their prices on goods and services, to cover the cost of the new taxes, and these kool aid drinkers will wonder where their money went. when gas hits 5.00 a gallon will all these followers still be able to drive? or will they ask moonbean for more assistance to help them out? those of us that actually work, or worked, for a living, and planned ahead won't like paying 5.00 a gallon for gas (probably 50.00 to 100.00 more a month) but it won't really effect us at all. how about all the kool aid drinkers? can you afford another 100.00 a month for gas? how about rent? that will go up also. there in no end in sight......so sit back and have another glass of kool aid!

It's not temporary. The amendment created by this proposition modified the Calif Constituition. The State will be required to provide the equivalent money to these newly established funds once the temporary provisions expire. So where will the millions of dollars come from then? Shouldn't be hard to figure out the answer to that question.

Only a 4 year tax ncrease, give me a break, just remember back to how many other temporary sales tax increases were put in place and then extended. Also, those temporary additional fees that have been extended. As for the State income tax on the rich, since when did 250,000 make people rich these days? I know people who have a husband and wife making a combine total of that and they are far from wealthy. Just another scheme on the part of the Gov and Legislature to squeeze money out of people and then slap it in the General Fund (which is where this money goes) to be doled out partially to schools and the rest as they see fit. It's to bad that the voters only listened to the media and political ads instead of reading the entire proposition which clearly states that the funds go into the General Fund and only a portion goes to schools.
