Two men have been arrested after leading Bakersfield Police on a car chase through north Bakersfield.
The chase started just before 8 a.m. Monday morning in the 100 block of Columbus Ave when the driver of a green Hyundai refused to pull over for speeding.
The driver then led officers on a pursuit north on Manor St.
During the pursuit, the occupants threw out a loaded firearm which was later recovered.
The pursuit ended when the driver collided with a Dodge pickup near the intersection of Manor St. and Ferguson Ave.
After the collision, the Hyundai's two male occupants ran from the officers towards a residential neighborhood. Both suspects were located in separate residential back yards near the 1000 block of Glade St.
Both suspects physically resisted arrest.

The driver, Alton Riley 37, of Bakersfield was arrested for Felony Evading, Resisting arrest, Felon in possession of a loaded firearm, Parole violation and Hit and Run.
The passenger, Brian Bland 24, of Bakersfield was arrested for Felony Resisting arrest as he attempted to remove the officer’s gun from his holster, Felon in possession of a loaded firearm, and Parole violation.
Both suspects were taken to the hospital for minor injuries and will be booked into Kern County Jail.
The driver of the Dodge pickup was not injured.
