Police looking into suspicious death in east Bakersfield

A woman comes home to find her fiance, dead.  Bakersfield Police are treating this case as a homicide investigation.  Homicide detectives say the man suffered a violent attack.

Police put up yellow tape around the home in the 1300 block of Eureka Street.  Homicide detectives are not releasing a lot of details at this time.  But they say the woman who called 9-1-1 was the man's fiancee, who discovered his body around 5:00a.m.

Detective Glen Grundeis, Bakersfield Police Department.  "She had just returned home from visiting friends here at 1309 Eureka Street and when she went inside, she discovered her fiance had suffered traumatic assault in the bedroom."

Detectives say the man was pronounced dead, and the investigation has turned into a homicide case.  Police say the victim appears to be a Hispanic man in his early 40's.  No suspect information or motive has been released.
