Bakersfield Police are looking for a man they say tried to kidnap his ex-girlfriend Friday afternoon.

Police were called to an apartment in south Bakersfield on Villalovos Court for an attempted kidnapping.  Police say a woman's ex-boyfriend tried to take her and ended up assaulting her.

"The suspect broke into her apartment and grabbed ahold of his ex-girlfriend," said Bakersfield Police Sgt. Bobby Woolard. "He struck her in the head with a firearm. He then attempted to have her exit the residence, but she was able to pull away and lock the door behind her. The suspect fled in his vehicle."

Police are still looking for Robert Holmes, the woman's ex-boyfriend.  He is described as African American. 5-foot-6  165 pounds, last seen wearing a plaid shirt and dark pants driving a maroon Toyota Camry.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Bakersfield Police at 327-7111.
