Bakersfield Police are investigating the murder of a six month old female child. On 11/18/09, at 4:30 a.m., Bakersfield police were dispatched to a report of an injured infant being treated at Mercy Southwest. The baby had suffered an injury to her head and subsequently died at 5:51 a.m.
Autopsy determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and her death was ruled a homicide. Investigation revealed that the baby’s mother’s boyfriend, Roman Ray Brand, 23 intentionally caused the injury.
Brand was arrested today(Wednesday) at 4:00 p.m. and booked into the Kern County Jail for murder. The child will be identified by the Coroner’s Office.
