It didn't take long. Police have put a name to the puzzled face of the knucklehead burglar seen looking straight into a surveillance camera during a breakin last week.
The man who pulled his mask down so he could better load loot during the heist is Bryan Rich, according to Kern High School District Police.
He's an Oildale resident who has two public drunkenness convictions on his adult criminal record, which started 79 days ago when he turned 18.
Rich remained at large Monday as officers tried to track him down.
He's wanted in connection with a burglary and vandalism Thursday that caused a $40,000 loss in theft and damage to North High School.
High School District Police say three men broke into the school around midnight Thursday morning and stole a utility vehicle, several computers and cases of snacks. They also vandalized several areas of the school.
The men pulled their tee-shirts over their heads to hide their faces from security cameras, and used plastic cafeteria gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints, police said.
But at one point, as the three struggled to move a large box full of loot, one of the men pulled the shirt from his face.
A surveillance tape shows him turn toward the camera. As he recognized that he had been caught on tape, the man is clearly seen muttering, "damn!" as he pulls the shirt back up over his face.
KHSD Police say that man was Rich, and are looking for him and the other two men. They say Rich is 5-foot-11 and weighs 152 pounds. His last known address is on Wilson Avenue in Oildale, and officers believe he's still in the Bakersfield area.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the KHSD Police at 827-3118.
