I just do not get these people in Frazier Park, they move up there and then they want the tax payer in the valley to fork over the cost for their school buses and fire department when we have cut back on both. It is not going to happen! Pay up or spend $5 to $10 a day driving your kids to school everyday!

Tranportation costs ae not reimbursed 100% by the state so districts have to make up the remainder of the costs by using general fund money, money that they do not have due to the state budget crisis. This is a way for dstricts to recover some of the costs associated with providing transportation services. The cost to districts for fuel and maintenane is astronomical,so for that reason this fee is not out of line.Actually it is a bargain considering the fact that it is much safer to have 1 school bus on the road as compared with 75 0r 80 cars that have to tansport those students if the district has to stop transportation, especially in the winter on those treacherous roads in that area.Pay the fee and have the peace of mind that a highly trained professional driver is transporting your students

Most parents across the country have been paying extra for this service for years! The days of the government doing everything for you is over. Wake up!

In our district they stop running buses for all the kids that live within one mile of the school, parents have to drive the kids everyday or the kids have to walk. Now the walking is not to bad for the older kids but K-5 is a little young for children to walk to school through traffic! They didn't give us a choice!

Since district transportation is not government mandated, but attendance is, perhaps the money saving move to park the buses would be to the parents' liking. It is happening elsewhere.

A large number of small school districts have been charging or have had to start charging for bus service because of the lack of funds to keep classrooms operating. Parents should look at options such as carpooling kids and such. Things aren't like the gravy train schools have had for many years.
