A shooting in central Bakersfield leaves one man dead and another injured and the gunman is still on the loose.

The shooting happened just after one o'clock Sunday morning at an apartment complex in the 14 hundred block of 2nd Street.

Police say 23-year-old Nicholas Rosales was shot in the head and taken to Kern Medical Center where he died. Another man was shot multiple times but is listed in stable condition.

Witnesses say there was a large fight in the apartment's parking lot before the shooting.
